Community Resources

  • Wildlife / Community Cats

This area is an ecosystem with abundant wildlife, including opossums, raccoons, birds of prey, iguanas, snakes, rodents, and feral cats.

Our ecosystem maintains a delicate balance. When wildlife becomes a nuisance, you are legally required to address the situation humanely. Residents have successfully used readily available deterrents, such as motion sprinklers and fake predator devices.

According to the Palm Beach County ordinance, trapping an animal on your property is a felony unless it's for the TNVR program. Cats with a clipped ear are part of community colony Trap, Neuter, Vaccine, and Return (TNVR) Programs. You can learn more about TNVR here. The program is free for feral cats.

TNVR is the only program that has been shown to control feral cat populations. Cats are territorial animals and will defend their territory against new entrants, stopping the cycle of breeding and disease. Community cats are also" working" participants, and they play a role in keeping rodent populations in check.

If you have any issues with wildlife in the area, please get in touch with us so we can help you find a solution.

  • Utility Poles and Street Lights

FPL manages most of the utility poles in the area. They also manage most of the street lights. If you have a problem with either, you call FPL support to report.

Regarding utility poles, FPL is supposed to check the poles at least every two years. If your pole is leaning or otherwise appears compromised, you should request an inspection as downed pole can be the source of a neighborhood fire. The process to have a pole replaced can take months.

If FPL is not timely in their response, you can escalate your concern to the Florida Utility Commission.

  • Neighborhood Policing

The Riviera Beach police department is available if you encounter suspicious or criminal activity.

It’s important to report activity even if it is passed so that the area stats accurately reflect the police presence need.

For non emergencies, contact their office directly. https://www.rivierabch.com/rbpd
